Navy missile test creates bright light across California sky”

KRCR News Channel 7 viewers reported a bright light in the sky over Redding Tuesday morning.

Videos of the missile test, many of which were filmed on the road, show a bright point in the sky with a beam of light radiating below it.

A U.S. Navy submarine in the Pacific Ocean launched two Trident missles Tuesday morning, causing multiple people across California to report seeing a mystery light in the sky.

According to KCBS Radio, it was US Navy testing missiles off the California Coast.

"Flight tests are conducted on a frequent, recurring basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system", Daniels said.

"If we said we are going to do a missile launch from such and such place at such and such time, that creates a vulnerability for some of our submarine and assets out there", Daniels said. "Each test activity provides valuable information about our systems, thus contributing to assurance in our capabilities".
