Chance The Rapper To Illinois Governor: "Take Our Kids Off The Table"

Chance The Rapper To Illinois Governor:

In another video posted online, Chance said "The kids are on the table right now".

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the two sat down together for 30 minutes earlier today. "I asked him about funding CPS with that $215 million that was discussed in May of previous year and was vetoed in December over, you know, political arguments and (stuff)". "I thought that went a little different than it should have".

After Chance left, Gov. Rauner told reporters that he admires the rapper's passion and that Chance had pressed him to get more funding for Chicago schools.

Chance was clearly frustrated with the Governor, with reports suggesting the Republican gave "vague answers" when it came to fixing the state's broken education system. "Chicago Public Schools and I did not lose today", he wrote.

Rauner said he asked Chance two use his influence to help his cause saying the rapper and son of a Chicago Democratic political operative had an "incredible voice"- presumably not referring to his singing.

"Unless the Governor restores his $215 million cut, we face even more painful choices before the year is done", a CPS statement said at the time of the lawsuit's filing last week.

Chance the Rapper wears many hats in addition to his omnipresent "3" ball cap: Grammy Award victor, community organizer-and now, believe it or not, state budget negotiator.

"I'm here because I just want people to do their jobs", explained the Coloring Book artist, who reached out to Rauner about a sit-down after the governor congratulated him on his recent Grammy wins. The rapper requested that national music publications give "a comprehensive history on how we ended up here".

"I said, if we stood together Chance, I have some power". The two of us will address funding education in Chicago.

However, Chance did send a positive tweet later in the day. "If we stood together, work together to figure this out, I think we could get big things done". "Please don't let that become the narrative".
