India's latest flag is hoisted so high that Pakistan can see it”

The Tricolor was hoisted on the country's tallest flag post (360 feet) at the Indo-Pak Attari Border on Sunday.

Pakistan is reportedly not happy with India yesterday installing what is its tallest and heaviest flag that can be seen from Lahore.

Pakistan Rangers have already objected to the installation of the flag and conveyed the same to the BSF and had asked them to install the flag away from the border, said sources.

The previous title-holder of the nation's highest flag was a 293-foot-high tricolour hoisted at Ranchi in Jharkhand.

The project was inaugurated by Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi at a ceremony attended by officers of the Border Security Force and BJP leaders, including former state chief Kamal Sharma. Further, the trust is expected to outsource the contract for the maintenance of the flag to a private organisation.

Interestingly, Pakistan is not happy with India's decision to hoist the tricolour at the global border.

However, Indian authorities have maintained that as per regulations, the flag has been installed at a distance of 200 metres from the International Border and therefore the flag installation does not violate any treaties.

The neighbour has called the act a violation of worldwide treaties.

The tallest tricolour promises to be yet another another attraction at the Attari-Wagah global border, which already sees thousands of Indians pouring in daily to witness the flag lowering ceremony. The original plan was to hoist the Tricolour at the new Attari post on Republic Day on 26 January, but it was delayed due to technical reasons.
