Buffalo Bills decide to keep QB Tyrod Taylor on restructured contract

Buffalo Bills decide to keep QB Tyrod Taylor on restructured contract”

Multiple outlets reported early Wednesday afternoon that the Buffalo Bills made a decision to retain quarterback Tyrod Taylor after it was initially rumored that he would be on the free-agent market at or before the start of the new National Football League year Thursday.

Ideally, Taylor will continue to grow as a quarterback, the Bills defence will improve under McDermott and the team can end their postseason drought. ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported the Bills would have owed Taylor a $15.5 million roster bonus if he was on the roster March 11, which also would have guaranteed more than $30 million of his contract.

Taylor made things even more hard on the Bills this offseason, when he had surgery to fix a sports hernia in January. "Doug and I are confident this was the best move for the Bills at this time".

For the second time in seven months, Tyrod Taylor has agreed to a new contract with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills had until Saturday to determine whether to pick up the extension Taylor signed in August or part ways with the two-year starter.

McDermott was hired in January to replace former coach Rex Ryan - a staunch supporter of Taylor. Since the start of the 2015 season, Taylor is 12th in the league in passer rating (94.2), 20th in completion percentage (62.6), 12th in yards per pass attempt (7.42) and sixth in touchdown-to-interception ratio (3.08). His agreement to stay in Buffalo affects the quarterback market and might directly affect the plans for several teams as Taylor was expected to draw immediate interest had he hit the open market. Zach Brown responded back with, "Bro, I'm a miss playing next to you on Sundays, my brother".
