Helicopter Carrying Russian, Turkish Business Executives Crashes in Istanbul”

All the seven passengers aboard a helicopter that crashed near Istanbul died, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said on Friday. Two pilots were also on the helicopter.

It had just taken off from Ataturk airport moments earlier.

Buklent Eczacibasi, chairman of the company, said three people aboard the aircraft were Russian clients who were in Istanbul to attend a ceramics products exhibition and were being flown to a factory owned by his company.

The Turkish national who was killed headed the company's operations in Russian Federation, he said.

The names of the four Russian guests were reported by local media sources as Alexander Vanin, Igor Kochergin, Luidmina Churova and Elena Badraga.

Turkey's NTV television said the helicopter crashed after hitting a television tower in an outlying district of the city.

"We are saddened with the news of the death of seven people, including the two pilots on board the helicopter", said a statement by Kugu Aviation, the company which operated the helicopter.

Eczacibasi Grup is a group of 49 companies operating in the spheres of activity ranging from the production of building materials to medicinal preparations and consumer goods.
